Women usually aged 25 or over who are going back into education and live and study in inner-city Liverpool, Bootle, Kirkby, Huyton, Stockbridge Village or the Wirral. Woman who are aged between 20 and 25 and have children may be supported. Grants are mainly given to people who receive income support, especially single mothers.
Grants, generally of between £10 and £100, are given for books, travel, uniform, equipment, materials, childcare and compulsory residentials that will aid study. Most grants are ongoing to people who are taking a three or four-year course.
On a form available from the correspondent for consideration in February / March and November / December, and possibly in one other month according to need. Forms are also circulated in colleges in Merseyside. Applications should be made directly by the individual.
